Leading the way on corporate citizenship
It was clear at Davos this year that good corporate citizenship is at the top of the agenda for many leading global businesses.
The issues causing the most suffering in our communities – water and food crises, high unemployment, severe income disparity, extreme weather events, and political and social instability – are also among the top 10 global risks of highest concern to business leaders (see Global Risks 2014, WEF).
At Davos, KPMG’s leadership on these issues was demonstrated by significant speaking opportunities. Michael Andrew delivered a speech on building sustainable food systems and, alongside many of our clients (including Unilever, DSM and Cargill), committed KPMG to the Zero Hunger Challenge.
Michael Andrew also chaired a panel on gender parity, consistent with KPMG’s recent commitment to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, and Lord (Michael) Hastings led a session on youth unemployment.
KPMG is at the forefront of many initiatives around the world – working alongside our clients, governments and civil society partners to help solve the world’s most complex problems.
A recent publication to share with your clients is ‘Our Global Development Initiative Story’, which reports on the ways KPMG people around the world apply their professional skills to empower change for people living in extreme poverty.
The Global Corporate Citizenship team has developed ‘Winning Business’ proposal support materials and is ready to support you with your client relationships – building on successes with Unilever, Chevron, Barclays, ABF and others.
